The motivation to open my own tour company is my passion for tourism and my love for my native land, particularly Los Mochis and Chihuahua. I have lived in Germany since 2007. I realize very often that northwest Mexico is not as well known as the country’s south.
When somebody thinks of Mexico they imagine the beautiful beaches and the Mayan pyramids in Yucatan. Northwest Mexico offers quite different attractions. One of these, the Copper Canyon, is particularly spectacular, being the deepest canyon in North America. It offers breathtaking vistas, pure air, dark night sky for astronomy, and is trammeled by mass tourism. Because of its remoteness, the culture of the Tarahumara Indians is preserved.
My ancestors come from the Sierra Madre Occidental. My father is a Tepehuan Indian. Tepehuan means “people of the mountains”. This Tepehuan have a somewhat common history and culture the neighboring Raramuris, also called the Tarahumaras, which means “people with the light foot”, due to their ability to run long distances. The Tepehuans and the Raramuris live in the Sierra Madre Occidental on the border with Sinaloa, Chihuahua and Durango. I would like to introduce you to this region. I would welcome the opportunity to introduce you to the natural and cultural wonders of this little known part of Mexico.
Amapa Tours offers me the opportunity to share my country and my native region with the people of Europe. Please join me on an adventure to explore the wonderful beaches and mountains of northwest Mexico.
